Am I a Funny Girl?

A Relentlessly Cheerful Giveaway!

– Posted in: Bloggy Friend Fun, Giveaway, Sponsored

I’m a geek.
I’ve talked about this before, so unless this is your first time to my blog (in which case, WELCOME!) you already know this about me. I embrace the crazy as much as I can, and sometimes, I just can’t resist and must give in.
As I write this, the back of my brain is planning my outfit for tomorrow morning… much like high school, I’m starting a new job tomorrow (Yay!) and can’t decide what to wear.
WTH does my outfit tomorrow have to do with a giveaway? Let me tell you!
My new job involves me working at home a few days a week, so I’ve been thinking a lot lately about how I can set up our spare room as a good office space that will keep me productive and focused.
First things first, of course, I need a theme and some art!

Enter James Hance. There’s a decent chance you’ve seen some of his work before, working its way down your News feed on Facebook. I’d seen what I’d call his most “iconic” piece a number of times, but never knew the artist. It’s this one:
A little bit Star Wars, a little bit Winnie the Pooh adds up to a whole lot of awesome in my book! This painting is part of a whole collection James has done, along with a story book, called “Wookiee the Chew, the House at Chew Corner” and truly, I’m in love with these pieces!

So anyway, back to my home office. Jamie and I both work from home at least some of the time, so I can’t go all girly in my design. I thought some of this stuff would be perfect! It speaks to the geek in both of us, and I was thrilled to discover more than just Star Wars once I got further into James’ site… Back to the Future, the Muppets, Up, Winnie the Pooh, Calvin and Hobbes… Doctor Who.

The Doctor and I go way back, at least 7 years, which, in Time Lord Time is either like a million years or 2 seconds. Or both.

Jamie and I are both huge gigantic Doctor Who fans, and I loved this piece that combined two of our favorites, Back to the Future and Doctor Who! I got my prints in the mail yesterday, and went out today to get frames, because I just couldn’t wait!

And as if this and all of the other Whovian art wasn’t enough to make your (my!) head spin, James has teamed up with the infamous Leila Miyamoto (aka @DontSpkWhinese) for a new project, “Goodnight Pond,” a parody book for the next hopeful companion, and they tell me it’s coming out any minute now!

I know, you just want to know how you can win your own little bit of James Hance geekery, right? It’s SO easy! Just go take a peek at James’ site and tell me which of the art prints is your favorite! If you’re my lucky winner, you’ll get not one, not two, but FIVE prints of your choice! I actually have one framed in my living room right now that I’m giving as a wedding present this summer (Shhhh! Don’t tell the bride and groom!) so these are lovely gifts to give as well!

I’ve included some additional ways to earn entries, so you can enter as many times as possible!

a Rafflecopter giveaway

Disclosure: I received 4 art prints and a copy of “Wookiee the Chew” in exchange for writing this post and hosting this giveaway. No other compensation was received, and honestly, I’d have done it without the free art! (Just don’t tell James!)

The Wookie the Chew print is by far my favorite. I just adore it. I’ve spent some time on his site in the past, and all of his work is just wonderful. Fun contest!

Bren June 25, 2012, 10:28 am

I love all of these! I don’t know if I could pick a favorite. Firefrog? Dark and Starry Night? I would love to decorate with the Flower of the Force and Gentle Sith series. These are fabulous!

Michelle June 25, 2012, 5:48 pm

How do I pick just one?!?! I really like Someone Who Loves You but i think my favorite is A Most Bold Adventure.

Amelia June 25, 2012, 5:49 pm

As a HUGE muppet fan and a slightly less huge Doctor Who fan, I would have to go with Doctor Teeth. Amazing!

Rory, Chocolate Hair / Vanilla Care June 25, 2012, 7:16 pm

“little rebels” and “someone who loves you” but i also love “bert & ernie.”

Stephanie Fowler June 25, 2012, 7:20 pm

“Help” and “Prince Adam’s Cringer” are my current favorite. Or “Dr. Teeth”. Dangit -James is too talented! Loved this post. Found it from Leila’s FB post.

Julia E. June 25, 2012, 7:21 pm

I lean quite close to the ‘Little Rebels’, but I think my favorite can’t just be one. It’s ‘The Flower of the Force’ series. Love you Lizz and all your geekery!

Amy June 25, 2012, 7:31 pm

The Girl Who Waited. :) it’s perfect! Amelia Pond waiting with her Raggedy Doctor!

Brew June 25, 2012, 7:34 pm

Little Rebels. No, wait, Fuzzy & Red, White and Blue. No, it’s gotta be Taking Their First Step Into A Larger Forest…

Do I HAVE to pick just one?

Luke June 25, 2012, 7:34 pm

Calvin & Hobbes, for sure!

Missy June 25, 2012, 7:35 pm

The Fraggleship of the Radish is amazing! Love Fraggle Rock!

James L. June 25, 2012, 7:35 pm

There’s just no picking a stand-alone favorite, they’re all so indescribably wonderful! Smugglers of the Labyrinth, a Biped and His Boy, Doctor of Steel, Little Rebels, Someone Who Loves You, Amy & Doc….These are the rare sort of thing that warms my heart no matter how cold my world may get! If I simply must identify a favorite on that page, one that embodies everything I love about Hance’s brilliant work, it’d have to be A Most Bold Adventure.

Brandon June 25, 2012, 7:35 pm

Anything star wars draws my attention, and one of his most recent pieces was amazing. The Darth Maul/Tigger painting for sure.

MJ in Michigan June 25, 2012, 7:35 pm

The Girl Who Waited — it hangs on my niece’s wall and in my office and is our link when we’re apart. :)

Casey Sandusky (no relation to the creep) June 25, 2012, 7:36 pm

It’s a tie between Little Rebels and Someone Who Loves You. All of his prints are so wonderful that I do plan on buying at least one in the near future!

Amy Mcneill June 25, 2012, 7:36 pm

my favorite currently avaliable is A Biped Of Very Little Brain’ but my absolute fave I can’t see on there atm and its most likely lose it anyway which is currently on my study wall,humor,pooh,star,wars,parody,teddy,bears-ca276b68bf2dc27f5b8d61d6e6f6d433_h.jpg

absolutely the best and melts me everytime!

Scott June 25, 2012, 7:36 pm

I really love the print, ‘A Biped Of Very Little Brain’. Hilariously ties in so many Star Wars elements with the Pooh theme! Just plain awesome.

Lew Ayotte June 25, 2012, 7:36 pm

My favorite print to date is Little Rebels.

Emily Parker June 25, 2012, 7:37 pm

I love them all, but I guess my favorite is Dark and Starry Night. I also love Doctor of Steel. :)

Leah June 25, 2012, 7:37 pm

Someone Who Loves You is my current favorite. (Although every new print that James comes out with ends up becoming my fave!)

Danette June 25, 2012, 7:38 pm

Calvin & Hobbes. It was the first James Hance I ever saw, and I had to have it for my own little Calvin. It looked so much like him it brought tears to my eyes. It blew me away, Calvin having always been one of my faves, and my little man being the spitting image.

Susan June 25, 2012, 7:38 pm

My favorite is the Firefrog. Having grown up on the Muppet Show and then loved every minute of Firefly, its perfect! My husband would flip for it :)

Liz June 25, 2012, 7:39 pm

My favorite is Dark and Starry Knight, which we have hanging in my sons’ room. It is awesome! A close second would be Someone Who Loves You. I think that would make such a great wedding present for a cute nerdy couple.

Sarah Kufel June 25, 2012, 7:39 pm

My favorite is Little Rebels!! So precious..

Junebug June 25, 2012, 7:40 pm

If I only had a Heart -> great print!

Wendi Nelson June 25, 2012, 7:40 pm

The princess and the beast is my favorite!

Bob June 25, 2012, 7:40 pm

I have several favorites but keep looking at getting Lunch Atop the Half Constructed Death Star and The Doctor of Steel

Marina June 25, 2012, 7:41 pm

I am a HUGE Star Wars fan (thanks to my awesome dad) – therefore the ones I adore are:
“‘Someone Who Loves You”, ” Little Rebels”, ‘A Most Bold Adventure’ (Wookiee The Chew), ‘A Biped And His Boy’ (Wookiee the Chew), and ‘Up & Far, Far Away’.

Daogreer Earth Works June 25, 2012, 7:41 pm

Since I can’t say ALL OF THEM, which is my actual answer, I’ll specify “The Doctor of Steel”

Chelsea June 25, 2012, 7:42 pm

I am James Hance’s biggest fan girl. I currently have 8 prints of his (I ordered two more, plus two Wookie the Chew books yesterday, but most of those are gifts). I can’t pick just one print but my current favorite (that I dont have) is “Back-And In Greater Numbers”

Chelsea June 25, 2012, 7:44 pm

I mean today. I work/sleep odd hours so my days are always off.

Liz Dolgos June 25, 2012, 7:42 pm

I like a lot of his stuff so it’s very hard to choose just one! But I think I’ll have to go with “The Kessel Run”

Jessica H. June 25, 2012, 7:43 pm

I love Relentlessly Cheerful Art! My favorite HAS TO BE “Firefrog” – that was the first print that I saw over a year ago that drew me to his website and prompted me to follow him on facebook. I love seeing the newest art mash-ups that he comes up with show up on my facebook newsfeed. I would LOVE to win!

Jeremy H. June 25, 2012, 7:43 pm

I read your giveaway and instantly knew that I was going to tell you that “Being Green” was my favorite -the one James did with Kermit and Ray Charles, but wait, now it’s gone!!! So, I guess I’ll go with “The Man and the Muppet of Steel” which has always been a close runner-up-fave of mine.

michael June 25, 2012, 7:44 pm

The Most Bold Adventure would look good on so many walls!

Clare June 25, 2012, 7:44 pm

O there are far too many amazing prints to choose from! But as a HUGE Firefly and muppet fan, I would have to say my favorite is Firefrog. I also love Wokstock and The girl who waited!

Jessica B June 25, 2012, 7:44 pm

I would live the three piece Stormtrooper set for my oldest daughters bedroom.

nakedhobo June 25, 2012, 7:44 pm

Seriously, how does one choose? Last time I was on his site I bought a ton of prints, but, if I have to pick one it would be Falcon Girl. It sums up my girlfriend perfectly.

Nikki P June 25, 2012, 7:44 pm

My favorite is the A Most Bold Adventure. We ordered it for our baby nursery. Love his prints.

Juleah June 25, 2012, 7:45 pm

The Gentle Sith FTW! I have the two Stormtrooper prints on my wall, and I need Vader to complete it! There really isn’t a single one that I wouldn’t love to have hanging on my walls!

Rebecca Chesterman June 25, 2012, 7:46 pm

“A Biped of Very Little Brain” and Firefrog (Firefly) are my current favorites if I’m forced to choose – very tough to pick because so many of them “speak” to me.

Michael June 25, 2012, 7:46 pm

Bounce them out…how can you go wrong with an evil Tigger?

Pat Farrington June 25, 2012, 7:48 pm

Thee are many prints I would love to have but I believe my first choice would be “The Promise”

Angel June 25, 2012, 7:48 pm

I love his work – just turned a few friends on to it recently. As a Star wars and Pooh fanatic, i have to pick ‘A Most Bold Adventure’ (Wookiee The Chew) –

Your blog is awesome btw

Marianne Main June 25, 2012, 7:49 pm

How can anyone choose just one favorite?! One is more amazing than the next. I am a browncoat so the “Firefrog” print is awesome. But the “Dooze The Force” and “let the Wookie win” are so fun.

Andrea June 25, 2012, 7:51 pm

It’s a toss up between A Most Bold Adventure and Firefrog. I adore them both for different reasons, so it’s hard to choose between the two.

Christopher June 25, 2012, 7:51 pm

I’ve loved “Taking Their First Step Into A Larger Forest” since I first saw it, and all three of “The Flower of the Force” prints are on my ‘soon to acquire’ list!

Scott June 25, 2012, 7:51 pm

SO many great pieces…but I think “Falcon Girl” is my favorite.

Andrew H. June 25, 2012, 7:51 pm

In descending order:
‘Amy & Doc’
‘The Doctor Of Steel’
‘Doctor The Future ‘

Sue June 25, 2012, 7:52 pm

I love his work! My favorites on the list shown are: “A Most Bold Adventure”, “Someone Who Loves You”, “The Doctor of Steel”, “A Biped and His Boy”, “Doctor the Future”. Thank you for the chance!

Meaghan B June 25, 2012, 7:52 pm

It seems almost sacrilegious to choose just one, but I’ve always loved his Wookie the Chew ‘A Biped And His Boy,’ it melts my heart every time!

Adrienne C June 25, 2012, 7:53 pm

At the moment, The Kessel Run is my favorite. I also love The Empire is Magic! oh, and Princess & the beast is super! I actually have quite a few on my wishlist to buy, maybe Christmas for me if I don’t win!

Tammy June 25, 2012, 7:54 pm

Hard to choose but I’ve always liked “Force by Northwest”

Nathaniel June 25, 2012, 7:55 pm

I like the flower of the force series and the gentle sith. i already bought the firefrog pack!

Andi June 25, 2012, 7:56 pm

As a fellow Doctor Who fan, my favorite is “The Girl Who Waited.”

mikey June 25, 2012, 7:57 pm

The ones I’m absolutely in love with and hope to one day own are:
A Most Bold Adventure
Little Rebels
The Last
A Biped And His Boy
A Biped Of Very Little Brain

Jim Carchidi June 25, 2012, 7:58 pm

I’m lucky enough to have a copy of the Wookie The Chew comic, so I’d have to go with that one. But James is brilliant. If his work doesn’t make your day the Dark Side has truly taken you.

Sharon June 25, 2012, 8:00 pm

A Most Bold Adventure is my very favorite, but Someone Who Loves You is a really close second!

Greg June 25, 2012, 8:00 pm

There are so many I love, but I think my favorite is “The man and muppet of steel” Such a wonderful depiction of Christopher Reeves’ Superman and my all time favorite childhood memory of Super Grover.

Lori June 25, 2012, 8:00 pm

So hard to choose just one. I love all of his work so much. Since I have to narrow it down to just one, I’ll have to go with my current favorite (and the one I plan to purchase next): “Bounce them out, all of them.” I cannot wait for the next Wookie the Chew book!

Ashleigh W. June 25, 2012, 8:00 pm

I love everything by James Hance and have since I found a copy of Wookie the Chew at my comic book store in Clermont, FL. One of my absolute favorite prints is ‘My Neighbor Wampa’! I am not only a huge star wars fan, but My Neighbor Totoro is my favorite movie of all time! I also love your Doctor Who/Back to the Future painting. Simply amazing!

Traci June 25, 2012, 8:00 pm

The Dark Starry Night was what first brought Jim Hance to my attention. Not only is it a beautiful painting, but it has BATMAN in it!! BATMAN in Van Gogh!!!!!

Amanda June 25, 2012, 8:00 pm

Wookie the Chew is my favorite! I have always loved both Star Wars and Winnie the Pooh and to see them together like this is just brilliant. I want to do my next child’s room in a Wookie the Chew theme.

Laurel June 25, 2012, 8:01 pm

Oh, which to choose? I love so many of them (especially the Doctor Who ones!). I think my favorite might be The Girl Who Waited!

Barb June 25, 2012, 8:03 pm

A most bold adventure is for sure my favourite, but I love so many, lol. You’ve got green on you, At-ore, The Kessel run is a close second I think to bold adventure. :-)

Erin McK June 25, 2012, 8:03 pm

I have always adored ‘Til Luke Said’. Be still my heart! Hance drew a Star Wars/Totoro mash-up earlier this year and I almost died. So much talent!

michael June 25, 2012, 8:03 pm

i love the firefrog print!

Danny W June 25, 2012, 8:04 pm

Oh love the storm-trooper bubble blower and had to get the shirt of super grover silhouette “red cape blue fur…can’t lose” inspires me daily.

Thomas L. June 25, 2012, 8:06 pm

If I had to choose my absolute favorite piece, it would be “Someone who loves you.” I’m a huge Star Wars Fan, as well as Up!. That one just made me smile a great big one. But that’s also because I LOVE crossover stuff. Oh, and a big whovian too. So, “Doctor The Future,” the one in the blogpost, is one of my other favorites :)

Tori June 25, 2012, 8:07 pm

My favorite prints are ‘A Most Bold Adventure’ (Wookiee The Chew), ‘Someone Who Loves You’, ‘Amy & Doc’, ‘The Girl Who Waited’, and ‘Doctor The Future’. I love my some nerdy crossovers. We’re having a baby and we have a Doctor Who / Star Wars theme for the nursery :D.

Konica June 25, 2012, 8:08 pm

I love the Fire Frog set! totally my favoright. and I really want to do my kid’s bedroom in Wookie the chew!

Sallee Glickler June 25, 2012, 8:11 pm

Fellow geek here, lol!

I already have Someone Who Loves You, A Tatooine Explorer is a Friend to all, and Tatooweenies (they sent me this instead of “Explorer”, and told me to keep it since it was their error!)
Up and Far Far Away (you see a theme in what I like, right?)
And last, but certainly not least, the 11th and 10th Doctors.

~A June 25, 2012, 8:11 pm

it’s a toss-up between Wok-Stock and Little Rebels! he brings the best of Americana into adorable mash-ups…..i am such a HUGE fan of James Hance! So much so, that i’ve bought t-shirts and books as baby/children’s gifts for family and friends!
thanks for the opportunity to win something for myself!

Michelle W. June 25, 2012, 8:12 pm

I have loved the art that James Hance does for a while now. I am ever amazed at how his mind works and comes out as some of the most creative art! It is so rare to come across Geek art that is truly great!! I would have to say my favorite is the ‘Doozers Raising The Flag’ print.

Rebecca D June 25, 2012, 8:14 pm

My first was “Oh Bother” and it’s my all time favorite – It’s Wookie the Chew all tangled up in storm trooper gear (ala Poohs Honey Pots), for Fathers day I got my husband the new Darth Tigger and for Mothers day I received the Beauty and the Beast spin with Chewie and Leia! James’ work is amazing and the cause that he sponsors for his little girl is wonderful and I always love buying great art that has a meaning behind it! :)

Kristin June 25, 2012, 8:16 pm

I’m a HUGE Star Wars fan so naturally I’m in love with James and his work. I do love Wookie the Chew, but I think the Han/Leia parody on the movie Up has to be one of my most favorites. I would love to use these prints to someday decorate a nursery for a little one :) What better to introduce a baby to the world than a lovable droid or wookie? 😉

Connor Kerrigan June 25, 2012, 8:18 pm

Bounce them out, all of them
A most bold adventure
Oh bother
Little Rebels (my favorite)
A hoped and his boy

Lydia Mendez June 25, 2012, 8:21 pm

Love Little Rebels!

Melissa Harrison June 25, 2012, 8:21 pm

I LOVE this art!!! ‘Little Rebels’ is my favorite! I also like ‘Someone who loves you’, ‘Grover’ (I have to love this one because I am a History teacher!), ‘The Dark Starry Night’, ‘Help’, and finally ‘Falcon Girl’ is awesome.

Margaret June 25, 2012, 8:22 pm

I love all of his prints! My favorite on right now is “Smeon Who Loves You”, but that will change the next time I look at his site.

lisa narbert June 25, 2012, 8:25 pm

My all time favorite is Somebody loves me the UP/ Hand and Leia spoof. And of course all of the wookie the chew prints that I want to put in my childs nursery!!!!

Darryl June 25, 2012, 8:34 pm

“Someone Who Loves Me” is my favourite. I saw it through it’s production and fell in love with it instantly! Bought a copy and had it shipped to a friend (As Australia was out of reach sadly) and got it last month. Looking for the perfect frame now :)

Lauren June 25, 2012, 8:38 pm

Wow. So hard to choose even FIVE favorites, as I’ve been a James Hance fan for a long time, BUT I would say my absolute favorite is probably a toss-up between Little Rebels, Someone Who Loves You, and The Dark Starry Knight.

Alayna Een June 25, 2012, 8:44 pm

My favorite is the “Little Rebels.” It is SO CUTE!!!

Cassy Adamson June 25, 2012, 8:44 pm

The last

Carey Armstrong-Ellis June 25, 2012, 8:46 pm

Such a tough choice! James Hance is my hero. If I had to choose only one I would have to choose “Till Luke said…”, the Where the Wild Things Are/Star Wars mash-up. Then there are the Wookie the Chew ones like “The Hunt” and “The Force.” Next I would choose “Destroy All Monsters!” And if “Time for Bed” and “Supergrover”were still in print I would add those to the list, hahah….

Ann Colburn June 25, 2012, 8:49 pm

My favorites are “Every adventure starts with…” and “Oh, bother” and “A most bold adventure”. I want to decorate my 9 month old son’s room with James’ art.

Kimberly Gross June 25, 2012, 8:55 pm

gahh ~ this is really hard. the first print that initially sparked my interest in James was ‘A Most Bold Adventure’… what got me to fall in love with him was ‘Little Rebels’ and ‘Someone Who Loves You’, the latter being my favorite of all still…
However, I just spotted sexy Tennant in ‘Doctor of Steele’ and ahem.. hi, I love that as well just because I am a Tenth Doctor fanatic!

Zach Nyhus June 25, 2012, 8:56 pm

It’s REALLY hard to decide, but I’m gonna say ‘Lunch Atop The Half Constructed Death Star’.

Ann Colburn June 25, 2012, 8:56 pm

My favorites are “Every adventure starts with…” and “Oh, bother” and “A most bold adventure”. I want to decorate my 9 month old son’s room with James’ art. I’ve never been much of a Star Wars fan, but I love Winnie the Pooh and this work really bridges a gap from one to the other in my opinion. I love it! Will James Hence be attending ComiCon as a vender?

Sara June 25, 2012, 8:59 pm

I love all the prints, but my favorite has to be “Little Rebels”. Every time I see it, something about it reminds me of my husband. My second choice would be “At-Ore” because… simply.. At-at love!

Daniel Simonson June 25, 2012, 9:02 pm

I have always had a soft spot for Superman and I’ve had a similar spot for Super-Grover almost as long so, naturally, “The Man & The Muppet Of Steel” would have to be my absolute favorite but the “Flower of the Force” series would make a pretty sweet tryptic! In all honesty, you could close your eyes and through a dart at these images and anything that it landed on would make a fine addition to any wall (I do not recommend testing this out because you could buy one of each print for less than it would cost to replace your laptop… plus you’d have to throw the dart *really* hard to make it pierce glass)

Shawnna June 25, 2012, 9:05 pm

I love the promise

Alex June 25, 2012, 9:13 pm

Kermit Calling! I’m a huge Muppet’s fan and a huge Clash fan.

Adele June 25, 2012, 9:14 pm

Calvin & Hobbes is my favourite, but only just beats Supergrover and the ever-so-sweet Flower of the Force prints :)

Misty June 25, 2012, 9:15 pm

Firefrog and The Meep are at the top of the list, though it’s so hard to choose!

Eve June 25, 2012, 9:20 pm

: ) Thankfully I am in the same boat as many of the posters because I love them all and already own several. It is an exceeding difficult choice. But I think “Little Rebel” is my favorite. It is done in such an incredible style… ye gods, what a talent James has… it makes me want a bigger house with more wall space so I could own one of each and cover my walls with it. : )

Greg June 25, 2012, 9:22 pm

The Firefrog which combines two of my favoritest things in the whole world. Love the combo

Eliza June 25, 2012, 9:30 pm

I love Calvin and Hobbes, The Eleventh, Bert and Ernie, but I have to say my favourite is Firefrog. I’ve been a huge fan of James for a while now, and that one’s always stood out to me.

jason June 25, 2012, 9:38 pm

‘A Most Bold Adventure’ (Wookiee The Chew)

But they are all so good… ‘Someone who loves you’ is great too!

Margaret June 25, 2012, 9:40 pm

My favorite is Someone Who Loves You – it captures the emotion of Up so beautifully. But James Hance does such wonderful work, it’s heed to pick just one.

Brandon Erik Mills June 25, 2012, 9:54 pm

I would have to say At-ore is the best, my favorite Pooh character and Favorite Star Wars Vehicle. With The Last being a close second yet again favorite Star Wars vehicle crossed with on of my all time favorite movies The Last Unicorn!

Sol June 25, 2012, 9:57 pm

LOVE this guy’s work! The hubs and I were actually looking at his site together a while back and the one we thought about buying for the kiddo’s bedroom was ‘A Biped And His Boy’ (Wookiee the Chew). I hope I win, I hope I win!

James P Powell June 25, 2012, 10:16 pm

I always think of the Grover one called “Fuzzy and red white and blue” …or something. I am forever telling people about the wookie the chew stuff though. There is one with him carrying the RT-DT piglet as he is chased by little TIE Fighter bees. Hance, you flippin’ genius!

Jaime Goodwin June 25, 2012, 10:20 pm

I would choose ‘Little Rebels’ for my daughters space princess room, ‘Wokstock’ for my sons Star Wars/music room and “Falcon Girl” for me! I’d have to spread the cheer around, couldn’t pick just one! :)

Christopher Yeoh June 25, 2012, 10:22 pm

The one with Carl and Ellie from Up as Leia and Han Solo. Poignant and beautiful in so many ways.

Stacey June 25, 2012, 10:30 pm

I adore James Hance and is work!! Its sooooo hard to choose – but right this second I would choose “Electric Submarine”. Makes me smile every time! :)

Kohl Littlechilds June 25, 2012, 10:37 pm

Big fan of his work of Heath as the joker. That’s how I was introduced to his art. Im also a big fan of his star wars and batman works. Such as The Dark Starry Knight and gentle Sith 1.

Kristen Archer June 25, 2012, 10:40 pm

I like “The Last”. It reminds me in many ways of all the girl-offers-floer-to-tank/solider/etc photos. Maybe on some planet far, far away the flowers won.

Kellie Durbin June 25, 2012, 11:00 pm

I learned of James Hance just today through a Facebook friend. I have been a longtime Winnie-the-Pooh fan, and a short-time Star Wars fan, so I’d love to have those mashups hanging on my wall!

Jessica Johnson June 25, 2012, 11:17 pm

You’ve Got Green on You, The Dark Starry Knight, Bounce Them Out All Of Them, Fuzzy & Red, White & Blue,’A Most Bold Adventure’ (Wookiee The Chew)

andy d June 25, 2012, 11:27 pm

hello lizz. um… i’m not good at introductions. in fact, i’m really awkward all the way around. yes, i am here for the print contest, but i didn’t want to leave a reply that would get lost in the sea of comments on your blog, so i wrote it in the form of a novella in the hopes that you would see it shadowing over everyone else. i’ve been a huge fan of james hance since he began posting his work on the internet a few years back, and seeing this contest, i can’t say that i’m jumping at the offer because i don’t want to be greedy, but i want to put my name in the hat, seeing as i am pretty poor at the moment and would love to (hopefully) have a few more prints to go with the 2 i already have on my wall. sorry for taking up so much time. my favorite print went out of print (terrible joke, i know) a while back, but it was called: Fuzzy & Red, White & Blue. i thank you for letting me take up so much of your time with my inane rambling, so i will leave you, wishing you godspeed in all your wanderings.

ButMadNNW June 25, 2012, 11:34 pm

Hands d

Julia Gallo June 25, 2012, 11:35 pm

Chester Copperpot’s Goonie Clubhouse Band is definitely my favorite, the awesomeness of the Goonies combined with the splendor of the Beatles

ButMadNNW June 25, 2012, 11:38 pm

Hands down, Calvin and Hobbes.

I got one for my dad because we both love the strip (he even got a stuffed tiger once and promptly named it Hobbes), then got one for myself. It perfectly encapsulates the unbridled joy of the comic strip while showing us a brief glimpse of what Calvin saw every day. It’s just perfect.

Bernadette June 26, 2012, 12:12 am

I would love to win those prints – I have just recently bought “Wookie the Chew” and I absolutely adore it! :)
Jame´s website in itself is just as awesome to discover. My favorite prints when browsing it were (1) “Lunch Atop The Half Constructed Death Star”, (2) “Fuzzy & Red, White & Blue”, (3) “The Creation Of Muppet “, (4) “The Dark Starry Knight ” and of course (5) “Firefrog”.
All the best,

Kris Garst June 26, 2012, 12:17 am

Such a hard choice! I’ve been a fan of Wookie the Chew for a long time, but I think that The Meep may be my current favorite. The other four would take a lot of deliberation, though…

Alli Marshall June 26, 2012, 1:54 am

My favourite is definitely Little Rebels.
My 22 month old Son loves his Wookie The Chew book so I am contemplating decorating his room with some of James’ art work.

Pete June 26, 2012, 2:24 am

“Fuzzy & Red, White, & Blue” and “Till Luke said…” are two of my absolute favorites, but “Little Rebels” and “Someone Who Loves You” tug at my heartstrings with a hydraulic winch!

marc June 26, 2012, 3:49 am

Anything woolie the chew is great

Michele Harper June 26, 2012, 4:41 am

I actually have a few of these prints already (have loved James Hance for quite some time) But the one I don’t have yet, that is my absolute favorite is the Doctore of Steel. It combines my two favorite iconnic charaters of all time. I want so bad, I just haven’t ordered it yet.

Holly June 26, 2012, 4:51 am

Two of my favorites are “‘Someone Who Loves You” and “Little Rebels”. They are all just adorable and so clever!!

Molly Lee June 26, 2012, 4:55 am

‘Till Luke Said…” and Let the Wookie Win are by far my favorites but I love all of his work! I’m a huge Star Wars fan and each piece I see of is I want to grab! Great contest :)

Melissa S June 26, 2012, 6:15 am

I love the someone who loves you print.

Veronica June 26, 2012, 6:18 am

One of my all-time favorite prints form him is the full friefrog print, the one that has all the friefly/muppet characters with the gonzo serenity in the background. But of course, it is so hard to choose! The whovian in me is jealous I did not select one of those as my favorite.

Veronica June 26, 2012, 6:19 am

*from *firefrog … Note to self.. do not type this early in the morning!

ryan kelley June 26, 2012, 6:25 am

I’d say my favorite is Amy and the Doc, which is an amalgam of my most beloved comic (calvin and hobbes) and my first doctor (which they say you never forget). Calvin and Hobbes is a great comic because it went past the bonds of one liners and simple characters, dealt with larger issues and the characters though physically immature were very deep intellectually. They quoted shakespeare, they passed through Rembrandt inspired paintings and fought dinosaurs that drive bomber jets. Plus, just like the Doctor, all of time and space was his playground. Granted his time travel box was more cardboard than English police, but what mattered was where it took them and the adventures it would cause.

Michelle June 26, 2012, 6:45 am

Taking Their First Step Into A Larger Forest…- is my absolute favorite!! James is so very talented. Any of the Wookie Chew’s are amazing but I also love The Meep~ and of course all the Dr. Who’s. Can’t decide on a them all!

Nathaniel June 26, 2012, 7:05 am

Scott Burrows June 26, 2012, 9:31 am

You’re making us choose?! Almost every image without fail invokes a really rather wonderful feeling – something like a galactic collision of innocence and awesomeness!

Having said that – ‘Till Luke Said…’ was the print that first alerted me to the world of Mr. Hance, so we’ll go with that!

Cathy McCaughan June 26, 2012, 4:10 pm

I think my favorite is “Someone who loves you” but they are all wonderfully whimsical, sentimental and cheerful.

marti jackson June 26, 2012, 4:10 pm
