At my 6 foot tall self, I’ve weighed as little as 140 lbs (waaaay too skinny!) and as much as 250 (hello, pregnancy water retention!) My body seems to have settled in at a number that I’m not very happy with it (to be revealed later in this post) and I’ve got to do something about it.
Because I’m so tall, gaining weight is a double-edged sword. I can gain and hide up to about 15 lbs with no issues; clothes might feel a tad snug, but they still fasten, and it spreads itself out all along me, so it blends in easily. This is a bad thing because it makes it really easy for me to miss that I’m creeping back up, and all of a sudden I pull a random skirt out of my closet and it doesn’t fit! It sucks.
It’s not that I feel like I look awful, I just know I could look better. I think I generally look pretty decent on a day-to-day basis… the photo at left is me on a usual day (and in desperate need of a haircut! I do NOT usually have a mullet) But those jeans are a size 16, and I’d rather they were a 10 (but I’d be thrilled in a 12) and my cheeks are bit rounder than I’d like… and this photo is *still* using most of my usual everyday tricks to look “better”
I’m sucking in my belly, putting weight on one leg, hands on the hips, chin out and down. The whole nine. To be honest, I don’t even think about these things any more when a camera is nearby… it just happens!
So anyway, as I ramble on…
I think I hide it pretty well, all things considered. But when I look at myself under the bright flash of my camera, and put on some form-fitting workout gear, that’s where all of the reality comes to smack me in the face.
Oh yeah, I’m putting it ALL out there. That’s it.
No sucking in, no posing, no illusion-creating clothes. Just me.
Here are my stats, on the day before I started the program (aka Feb. 28, 2013)
Weight: 218 lbs.
Waist: 39 inches
Hips: 47 inches
Bust: 42.5 inches
Thigh: 25 inches
Calf: 15 inches
Upper Arm: 12 inches
The first few days haven’t been too difficult; the shakes and bars are tasty, and I’m not having trouble sticking to my calorie goal. Tonight will be interesting though, some friends are bringing pizza for dinner, so I have to limit myself there, and fill up on salad. Wish me luck!
I’m so excited to see where this journey takes me, and I can’t wait to share my progress with you!
