One of the things I was most looking forward to when Max started preschool last fall was his learning how to write. Words are clearly important to me, but Max has never been much for crayons or pens or anything… he’d draw a scribble or two, but it never held his interest very long, and he was always more interested in arranging and counting the crayons than he was in actually using them.

I posted back in September about his handwriting; it took close to 20 minutes to get him to scrawl the three words in that post. Twenty minutes. Now, here we are, almost 6 months later, and he’s writing on every piece of paper he can get his hands on!

He wrote out all 24 of his Valentines for his classmates, he signs his own thank you notes, and brings home new drawings every day from school. His current subject obsessions include rainbows and Angry Birds:

Now, not only is he drawing actual pictures, but his handwriting has improved roughly eleventy gazillion percent. He’s developing a love of words like mine, and I can’t wait watch him grow even more!

His penmanship has improved so much in just these six months of preschool, I can’t imagine what it will look like a few years from now! And he loves to fill out forms… they use this scratch paper at school, and he’s always trying to fill them out:
